Rev. Father Matthew Schnabel, OSFoc/n

Father Matt is our Associate pastor and serves as the co-director of the homeless outreach. On the national church level, he serves as the dean of the Old Catholic Institute creating programs for both seminary students and laity alike.

Originally from Florida, he was raised in the Baptist faith tradition attending regularly and committing to the faith at 9 years of age. Growing concerned with the teachings of the church particularly around people of color and against the marginalized he left and joined the Episcopal church, where he was confirmed in 2009 and began discerning a call to the priesthood.

In college he served as head minister for the University of South Florida’s Chapel center at the Episcopal outreach on campus. After graduation, he served as a social work intern at Catholic Charities in Pinellas County and HIV counselor at Metro Wellness and Community centers. He later moved to Albany, Ga and joined the Old Catholic Churches International while attending seminary at Southwest Georgia Theological seminary, where he earned a Masters of Theology in Pastoral Theology. In his spare time, Father Matt enjoys working on Gundam Models, playing Magic the Gathering, and honing his culinary skills to impress friends and family alike.
