Sacraments at Saint Francis Old Catholic Church
The Sacraments at Saint Francis Old Catholic Church are the same that you will find in all Catholic Churches. At Saint Francis all are welcome to receive the sacraments; regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, creed, race, or status.
For those who come from protestant backgrounds, sacraments are an outward sign of an inward grace or blessing from God.
The Sacrament of Baptism:
The Sacrament of Baptism is the first of the three sacraments of entrance into the church. It is also the first of the seven sacraments in the Catholic Church. It brings the baptized into the Church, which is the Mystical Body of Christ on earth.
The Sacrament of Confirmation:
The Sacrament of Confirmation is the second of the three sacraments of entrance into the church. Historically, this sacrament came immediately after Baptism. Confirmation brings us the graces of the Holy Spirit that the Apostles received on Pentecost Sunday.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion:
The Sacrament of Holy Communion was historically the third of the three sacraments of entrance into the church. This sacrament is the receiving of Christ’s Body and Blood. Hence, it is a source of great graces that sanctify us and help us grow in the likeness of Jesus Christ.

The Sacrament of Confession is one of the most misunderstood sacrament in the Catholic Church. In reconciling us to God, it is a great source of grace. Catholics should take advantage of it often.
The Sacrament of Marriage:
Marriage, a lifelong union between consenting adults, is also one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. It reflects the union of Jesus Christ and His Church.
The Sacrament of Holy Orders:
The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the continuation of Christ’s priesthood, which He bestowed upon His Apostles. Candidates for Holy Orders undergo a long process of discernment and education, not to mention spiritual growth and examination. A candidate who passes our process, might receive ordination to the Diaconate. This candidate may receive ordination to the Priesthood later. Those chosen by the church to lead a Diocese may receive consecration as a Bishop much later.
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick:
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is sometimes referred to as Extreme Unction or Last Rights. Anointing of the Sick is given to the dying and to those who are gravely ill. Sometimes a person about to undergo a serious operation can receive the anointing as well. This Sacrament imparts grace for the recovery of their health and for spiritual strength.
