Outreaches

Extending the mercy of Christ beyond the walls of the parish through compassion, justice, and practical care.

Outreach

At Saint Francis Parish & Outreach, outreach is part of who we are. We believe that the life of the Church does not end at the altar or the church door. It continues wherever people are hungry, neglected, wounded, excluded, or in need of dignity, hope, and care.

Our parish seeks to make the love of Christ visible not only in worship, but also in service, advocacy, listening, and accompaniment. In that spirit, we work to build ministries that reflect compassion, justice, mercy, and the Franciscan call to stand with those on the margins.

Human First Outreach

Human First Outreach focuses on providing food and toiletry supplies to people experiencing homelessness in the Augusta, Georgia area. This ministry also provides feminine hygiene products to those who need them and food for the pets of homeless friends and family.

This outreach is grounded in compassion and respect. Volunteers are encouraged to engage the people they serve in a humane and loving way, listening more than speaking and refusing to treat outreach as an opportunity for pressure or proselytizing.

If you would like to support this ministry, items may be donated through the parish outreach wishlist.

Reclaiming the Cross Outreach

Reclaiming the Cross is an outreach of the parish dedicated to setting the record straight on what the Bible says about many of the issues facing society today. This work reflects the parish’s conviction that Christian faith should be expressed with clarity, truthfulness, and mercy rather than fear, distortion, or exclusion.

This outreach is identified on the parish newsletter as being headed by Subdeacon Luna Godsey.

Podcast Outreach

Podcast Outreach is one of the ways Saint Francis Parish & Outreach extends its voice beyond the immediate parish setting. Through media and public conversation, the parish seeks to share reflection, witness, and thoughtful engagement with the faith in ways that can reach people wherever they are.

Justice, Peace, and Public Witness

Outreach at Saint Francis also includes ministries of justice and peace. The current parish materials name immigration accompaniment, racial justice advocacy, and peacemaking and nonviolence education as part of this work. These commitments reflect the parish’s desire to stand with the vulnerable and to live the Gospel visibly in the world.

In the parish’s recent public writing, this same spirit is expressed in speaking plainly about the dignity of immigrants, the full humanity of LGBTQIA+ people, and the Christian responsibility to resist dehumanization and exclusion.

Creation Care and Compassionate Service

In the Franciscan spirit, outreach also includes care for creation and practical acts of communal stewardship. The parish’s public ministry names community gardens, sustainability projects, environmental justice advocacy, and the Blessing of Animals on the Feast of Saint Francis as part of this wider witness.

Why Outreach Matters

Saint Francis Parish & Outreach describes itself as a parish committed to helping people live to their full potential and find their path to the divine. That mission is not only inward-facing. It shapes how the parish meets the world: with kindness, courage, hospitality, practical help, and a refusal to turn away from human need.

For us, outreach is not separate from faith. It is one of the ways faith becomes visible.
