Who is Saint Francis

Humility, peace, joy, and the call to rebuild the Church in love.

Who Is Saint Francis?

Saint Francis of Assisi is one of the most beloved saints in Christian history. Born in Italy in 1182, he turned away from wealth and worldly ambition in order to follow Jesus Christ in simplicity, prayer, service, and joy. His life became a witness to poverty of spirit, love of neighbor, peace, and wholehearted devotion to God.

He is remembered not only for personal holiness, but for calling the Church back to humility, mercy, and faithful discipleship. His example continues to speak powerfully to Christians who long to live the Gospel with sincerity and courage.

Why Saint Francis Matters

Saint Francis is often associated with peace, care for creation, compassion for the poor, and a spirit of joyful simplicity. He saw all of life as belonging to God and sought to love Christ by loving those who were neglected, wounded, or cast aside.

Why Our Parish Bears His Name

Saint Francis Parish & Outreach bears his name because we seek to embody that same spirit in our life together. We want to be a parish marked by reverence in worship, compassion in pastoral care, peace in our common life, and joyful fidelity to Jesus Christ.

His witness also reflects our parish charism. We seek to be an inclusive and affirming church, a safe space for all people, and a community where mercy is not merely spoken of, but practiced.

Saint Francis and the Life of the Parish

The spirit of Saint Francis shapes how we understand parish life. We believe the Church should be a place of prayer, hospitality, reconciliation, and love. We believe people should be welcomed with gentleness and treated with dignity. We believe the life of faith should be both deeply rooted and generously lived.

A Franciscan Witness Today

In every generation, the Church must learn again how to follow Christ with humility and courage. Saint Francis remains a guide in that work. His life calls Christians to prayer, peace, care for the vulnerable, love of creation, and trust in the living God.
